"It is with great sorrow that I must announce that the Governor’s School of South Carolina at the College of Charleston has been suspended indefinitely due to the current financial climate and the severe cuts in the state allocation to the College of Charleston.   We hope that financial conditions will make it possible for the Governor’s School to resume in the future, but at this time we do not know when or if this will be possible.  It is indeed regrettable that such an important and successful program to help educate some of the best and brightest students from across South Carolina must now close its doors."
